Install IPTV on Fire TV Stick

The Fire TV Stick is the most popular way to watch IPTV in the US, and it is also the device Amazon makes you jump through a hoop to sideload on. Here is the whole process.

Step by step

  1. 1From the Fire TV home screen open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options.
  2. 2Turn on Install unknown apps, then enable it specifically for Downloader.
  3. 3Open Downloader and enter the short code from your welcome email.
  4. 4Let the APK download, then choose Install and open the player.
  5. 5Sign in with the username, password and server URL from your email.
  6. 6Wait for the guide (EPG) to finish loading before browsing — it takes about a minute.

Tips for Firestick

  • If Downloader is missing, install it from the Amazon Appstore first — it is free.
  • A Fire TV Stick 4K Max handles 4K streams comfortably; older 2nd-gen sticks are best kept to HD.
  • Wired beats Wi-Fi for live sport. An Ethernet adapter for the Stick costs about $15.
